Natuurlinen Bookcloth

My standard cloth for making carrying cases and boxes is Natuurlinen bookcloth.  It is 100% cotton and has the feel of cloth.  Under heavy use it will show wear, but is the standard box making cloth for many universities and libraries.

Filled bookcloths

Filled bookcloths are woven materials (often cotton or linen) which are then filled with starch or other materials.  They are the cloth most often used for book covers.  Filled cloths are very durable and come in a wide range of colors and textures.  Below are samples of filled cloths I use.  I do not keep all colors in stock in the bindery but can generally get them in within a week.

Many more are available at stores like TalasClicking here will take you to Talas’ page of filled cloths.  Feel free to visit their site and then we can decide on your best option.  I can also send you, for a $25 deposit, a collection of sample books showing cloth, leather and paper options.

Use these images, and the images on Talas’ page, as a rough guide to these colors.  For instance, the Techno cloths are brighter than shown here, or on the Talas site.
