Club 19
A Seattle band before Seattle became Seattle
1978 - 1985

In 1985 we hired a friend of a friend to record us at the Hall of Fame, in the U District. The guy who booked the bands there liked us, and helped us out when he could. Anyway, the guy recording us used a betamax camera and clearly didn’t really understand what he should, and shouldn’t, be doing. But he was cheap and we had little money. So there is enough zooming and camera shaking to make a sailer sea sick, but no more than a lot of films today so maybe it’s not a big deal. But be warned.

Because of the betamax format I had no way of watching it, so it went across country a few times wondering if it would ever see the light of day, and was unviewed pretty much since it was made. After watching you’ll likely wonder if that wasn’t a good thing. Hopefully the problems with the tape can be used as an excuse for some of the playing.

And, if you hate it, know that this page is so deep in this site that you have no one to blame but yourself for wandering in this far.

Marj was the best singer of all of us, really fun to hang out with and had the best attitude. I think she’s still singing and playing flute. She should be!
Håkan came to Seattle from Sweden and a mutual friend introduced us. He is a really good guitar player and wrote some really nice songs. Here’s one.

Club 19 was a Seattle band in the late 1970s and early 1980s.  Norman Haynes, Marj Seyl, Chris Black, Mark Andersson and Hakan Svensson.  We had fun and sometimes thought we might have played well.  Who knows, maybe we did once in a while.
