Knife Sharpening

Having a sharp knife is essential in bookbinding, book arts, and in many other areas as well.

This class will discuss grinding knives and sharpening them using Japanese waterstones and micron sandpapers.

I developed a technique of combining the stones with the sandpaper which eliminates all confusion and saves a ton of time.  No more spending too much or too little time on a particular stone.  No more frustration and confusion.

One need not be a bookbinder to take this class, what we’ll cover will apply to anyone who uses knives.

This class will meet from 9 to 4, and is $100.

Students will need to bring knives they wish to sharpen and discuss and a set of Japanese waterstones (combination stones will be fine for this class).  You will probably  not finish a knife during the class but techniques will be discussed and practiced and you will be able to go home and work on your knives with confidence.

The class is limited to 8 students.
